| Finally! An update! I can hear you all sighing with relief as I type.
The fan tribute video was finally shot on the 22nd of December for the home opener on the 11th of January. Look for the Roadies and a few other fine fans on the video.
The Season Opening game in Albany was a wash. Toronto took it 13-9, with Doyle (5), Finneran (3), Toll, Gibson, Veltman, Wilson and Skinner adding goals for Toronto. Patrick Merril was lined up against Josh Sanderson and held him to one (1) goal on the evening.
I am sure that several Albany fans will have beefs with the referees (Rosyski's called back goal) as will several Toronto fans (we had 2 called back, don't forget, and the majority of the penalties were called on us...), even the radio announcer, Dan Dunleavy on TheFan590 was shaking his head and wondering WTF was going on with the refereeing...
Hope that the Roadies that went on the road trip had a great time! I'm sorry I couldn't join you in Ottawa, but this bronchitis I got's been killing me by inches.
See everyone at the home opener if not sooner!
Remember: January 11th, 2002, 3:30PM. Toronto Rock vs. Albany Attack at the Air Canada Centre.
| In speaking with the Toronto Rock front office today I was advised of a few things:
1) The exhibition mini-games on December 1 will more than likely not be open to the public.
2) The tribute video for the Toronto Rock will be completed in the next three weeks, and details will be posted here.
3) Despite everyone's complaints, Chad Richardson is really a nice guy.
4) The Dec 22 exhibition game will more than likely go off as planned, unless ther PLPA and the Rock and Rebel can't reach an agreement, like what happened to the Rouchies and the Ravens...
Keep your eyes peeled Rock fans! More updates as events warrant!
| The new season is almost upon us.
The draft is complete.
Season tickets have to be paid for (I don't know how I'm going to pay for mine...guess I'll have to peddle my own ass on a street corner somehwere).
The next season is almost upon us and that means that once again the ACC will become the most happening place to be as the Toronto Rock go in pursuit of their 4th championship in 5 years. Their season opener is against Albany, in Albany on December 27, followed by a game in Denver on January 3 and their home opener against the Albany Attack on January 11.
Plans are afoot for a special tribute video to be shot to include some of the "superfans", as well as plans to get some of us fans on the floor to watch as the banner is hoisted to the rafters. I am currently in talks with Chad Richardson, PR Director for the Rock, in the hopes that we can get this bad boy all sewn up before the season begins. I will have further updates on this site as events warrant. As well, I will be doing game summaries as well as interviews with players post-game and putting them in here. Here's to a content filled season with lots of road trips that ain't too hard on the old automobile!
| Well, it's over.
No one died, no one was seriously injured, we provided entertainment for the referee, had a few laughs, realised how badly out of shape we all are, and most importantly, proved that we could find the back of the net, even with a goalie in there...
Huge thanks to everyone that came out for the pick-up lacrosse game. I think that we learned valuable lessons on Sunday. We're all older, slower and fatter than we remember, and it shows. Ok, maybe I'm only speaking for myself here, but I am older, slower and fatter than I remember, but if I keep on doing this, eventually, I'll be good again.
Next step? We must challenge the Krew to a game. preferably during the OLA playoffs, so that we can play in front of a crowd, videotape it and see if Brad Watters wouldn't mind a pick-up game during a Rock game. Totally for laughs, I think it would be so much fun to hit the floor and play the Krew in a friendly setting, and if we really kiss ass, we can get a game during the Brampton playoffs on the old Gardens floor. That would be sweet!
For those interested again, we will be hitting the floor this weekend, July 28 from 6:45 to 7:45 again. Floor time has been booked!
| Playoffs are here for Jr A, Jr B and Senior B, with several series already completed, and several more due to start. Brampton, with Sandy "Charlie Hustle" Chapman leading the way, kick off their series against St Catharines in St Catharines tonight. Matt Vinc, a Toronto Rock prospect, will be tending the twine tend, when the two teams clash at home on Friday, the 19th of July. A few of the Toronto Rock Fan Club plan to be there to cheer on the brampton side, and it'll be a good warm-up for us for the season. Hopefully, the Major Excelsiors will be meeting Six Nations in the playoffs (which would mean that St CAtharines didn't get in...darn) so that we can really warm up on Pat O'Toole... :D
See you on the floor!
Let the mayhem begin 7/21/2002!
